Santa!

The boys are big time into Santa this year.  They complement the Wal-mart greeter each time we go and let them know that Santa will for sure visit them because they have a big tree.  They also let everyone at the pediatrician's office and eye doctor know that they are also ready for Christmas and that Santa will be very pleased with that (we have lived at the Dr/Dentist this past month I swear).  Benson has started asking really cute questions like, 'How will Santa come to our house if we don't have a chimney?' or when singing a familiar Christmas song he said, 'Dad, why would someone not believe in Santa?'  Basically my kids are so cute I want to eat them.  And Griffin sings 'Twinkle bells, twinkle bells' pretty much non stop.

We took the kiddos to go see Santa tonight because as Benson put it "Dad, Santa is flying his sleigh to the house by our swimming pool" aka, our neighborhood has Santa visit the clubhouse each year.  I have taken the kids in past years and it is generally pure torture-you wait in line in the freezing cold for 25 minutes and then you put the boys on Santa's lap and they scream and bawl and shake and shiver.  But...this year was different.  Although, Benson kindly allowed Griffin to go first, both of the big boys visited with Santa and no tears were involved.  We also got there early enough that we waited inside and only for a few minutes.  Plus we got red and green donuts afterwards!  Bonus!

Griffin was the brave soul who went first.  He told Santa that his name was Griffin, unbelievably Santa could understand him (Griff has the highest pitch voice ever) and that he wanted a racetrack, race car and an iPad.  Good list eh?  PS, Isn't Mrs. Claus adorable?  The kids were so stoked she was there too, even though they call her Mrs. Santa.

Benson told Santa he wanted the same things as Griffin-Santa said he didn't know if he had that much money.  I agree.
And then Leo got in on the action.  He did not cry, I think it has something to do with sitting on Mrs. Claus' lap who is a sweet Grandma looking lady and not a giant scary man with a white beard.  And once again, Griffin was super cooperative in the picture taking process.

This week we also wrote letters to Santa.  I do not send my kids to preschool (gasp) because I think they will spend the rest of their lives in school and I want to keep them home as long as possible.  Sometimes this decision brings me great anxiety and I worry my children will never learn to read or be far behind.  I try and hold a little preschool each day at home where we practice writing letters and learning sounds and coloring and glueing and painting.  Some days are a success, and some days are not.  Writing letters to Santa was very successful.  Check out Benson's (Blogger/iPhone why do you upload pics sideways?)

Dear Santa, Merry Christmas.  I want a racetrack and ipad please.  Love, Benson Johnson
And then Griffin proved to me that some things actually sink in and that our attempts at preschool aren't a complete failure by doing this (not sideways, grrrrrr)
Griffin wrote his name!  All by himself.  And he made a smiley face for Santa.
I nearly died when I saw this.  I was so happy I cried.  It was a Christmas miracle.  My sweet little boys make Christmas so much fun.  I am thinking about asking Santa if he can freeze my children at their current ages, I don't want them to grow any more.  Apparently Santa is granting me that wish for Leo who is not on the growth charts (he weighs 16 lb 14 oz and is 13 months old).  Hopefully all the Christmas sweets can fatten our little guy up.  I think the donut Santa gave him tonight helped.

P.S.  Last call for an invite to my private blog!  I am doing it soon!

Love your blog! Your boys sound like complete angels. Please give me some tips on raising sons (if that occasion should ever arise.) Oh, and call me immature, but I literally laughed out loud at the 2 foot poop. Wow! Happy Holidays!!

Well, Leo and Cordelia can be "off the chart buddies"!!! Cordelia was only 16 lbs. 11 oz., so Leo is a little ahead of her even. At least she is tall, but man, I would love her to gain some weight.

Your boys are just darling! Makes me miss my boy hearing such cute stories of your boys! I love that they greet and complement the WalMart greeters. How cute! It's so fun having kids understand more about holidays and it helps me get in the spirit of the holidays more as well. Glad you guys are doing well.
