Surgery Shots

Here are the pictures taken on Keith's phone from our hospital adventures. Most of them are pretty sad. Benson makes a pretty good sad face. We got to go home on Friday afternoon and couldn't be happier. We are doing our best to keep his pain manageable and having loads of fun changing a five year olds' diaper. We had to give the poor little guy a suppository before leaving the hospital and are now dealing with the repercussions. Hopefully, those will end soon and we can go back to Spiderman and Tranformers undies.

Anyway, here are the promised pictures.

Benson waiting to get his I.V. put in. Look at that sad face.

The team of people it took to put his I.V. in. The cute girl in the purple shirt was the "fun lady." She blew bubbles and tried to keep his attention away from the blood and needle.

Poor little lamb.

They gave Benson a doll named "Hospital Guy." He could draw on it and decorate it. Look at the poor sad face he colored. We waited for several hours before surgery. Poor little guy was miserable.

Holding hands while they wheeled him into surgery.

Crying and letting us know he doesn't want to have surgery. I am grateful Keith didn't take a picture of me at this point. It would not be pretty.

Sleepy after surgery.

Sleeping after surgery.
Playing Xbox in the playroom the next day. He played a racing game where he won every time.
Then he got too tired, and said he just wanted to watch Keith play.

Cutie pie.

He loved to go for wagon rides. He would ask to go outside a lot. We were quite the site.
My mom brought him a Captain America Shield that shoots little discs. He would ask us to attach it to his arm when we went out and then he would shoot people in the hallway.
Benson said multiple times that he missed Griffin. It was difficult to have people visit because Benson really wasn't himself. He rarely smiled and was mostly mad, especially when he was on morphine.
Our family from Cache Valley came to visit. Benson stayed awake for a few minutes, long enough to tell them he didn't like the presents they brought him. We all went to the cafeteria to have lunch while Keith's mom kissed on him and told him how much she loved him while he slept.
Maggie and Libby smooching their cousin. They really are the sweetest girls ever and they love Benson.
Even though Benson didn't seem to care if people came to visit, I really enjoyed it.

Once again, we are grateful to be home and that the recovery process has gone well so far. And we are so grateful that our hospital stay was only for our little guy's appendix-something that can be fixed. I am really hoping we don't EVER have to go back there.

I am sitting here bawling my eyes out over this post. I am grateful it was something that can be fixed so easily as well, but man, it would be hard to watch your child go through something like that. Love you guys!

I'm all teary eyed again.

We are so glad he's home! You guys have been in so many of our thoughts and prayers! We'll send over some poop cookies soon enough to fatten him up!
